be the thing you see is lacking

Black Creators have a very hard time getting accepted into white social media. Black men and women often have to work harder to be respected for what they do, but this can even happen within our own community. Creator of, “On The Table Podcast”, and Youtuber Anthony Luckett (he/him) hopes to provide an outlet for black teens to feel comfortable expressing themselves through creating internet content. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Anthony started creating youtube videos at the young age of 11 years old. “ At first I started doing youtube as something to try because I saw my favorite creators having fun so I said, why not! Ever since I made my first video in the summer of  2017, I couldn't seem to stop wanting to make videos. I feel like it’s my calling in a way”. Throughout his 4 years of youtube, Anthony has had a total subscriber count of over 300 supporters. Being 15 years old (2021) he hopes to make whoever watches his videos feel safe and not afraid to be who they are. Anthony’s podcast “ On The Table (2021-)” formerly known as, “ The Crazy Station(2020-2021)” has amassed over 800 plays since the start of it in February 2021.

Hence the title, he puts everything on the table in his podcast. The topics of toxic masculinity, relationships, friendships, and racism all show throughout each episode. “ I felt like I outgrew Crazy Station because while it was fun, it didn’t make me happy after 7 months. I needed an upgrade” ( Anthony is quoted as saying in episode 1 of On The Table).  In September 2021, Anthony relaunched his podcast, changing the logo, adding photoshoots/ commercials, and a textable number. “ I felt like my podcast was so unbearable to look at, it made me not like doing it anymore. It felt so serious, so I relaunched it to make it more fun, and more appealing for me”. Along with the rebrand, Anthony produced a 4 part mini-series called “ Behind the Rebrand” on the “On The Table Podcast” youtube channel. He takes the views into the mind of what went into the rebrand of his podcast. “ I can’t believe I managed to hide this for almost the entire year but it’s here now and I’m so grateful that it turned out the way I wanted it to”, Anthony explains in the mini-series. In the future, Anthony hopes to expand his brand as a creator and hopes to encourage other black youth to be themselves without having to pretend to be a certain way to fit in.
